GoodWe Energy Storage Solutions Empower Continuity of Education at Bobryk Gymnasium in Ukraine

GoodWe, a global leading inverter manufacturer and smart energy solution provider, has partnered with the non-profit association we@voltalia to provide a solar power storage system to the Bobryk Gymnasium of Velyka Dymerka Village Council in Ukraine, participating in the #100SolarSchools Project initiated and coordinated by Energy Act Foundation. The Bobryk Gymnasium in the Kyiv region marks the eleventh school to benefit from this initiative that aims to secure energy supply for students during power outages. The program to guarantee energy independence for schools was initiated by the Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation, a charity that is working with international corporations, NGO’s and authorities. The system at the Bobryk Gymnasium was installed in collaboration with multiple partners and inaugurated in late January 2025.

The installation at the school is comprised of 42.3 kWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules, combined with GoodWe ET Series hybrid inverters and Lynx F Series batteries with 29.7 kWh of storage capacity. The system, integrated with GoodWe's SEMS monitoring platform, provides up to 4 hours of backup power during blackouts, ensuring a continuous learning environment for students without disruption. Bobryk Gymnasium is expected to save up to EUR 6000 annually on electricity costs, freeing up funds for other essential needs. Over the next 25 years, the system will reduce CO2 emissions by an estimated 635 tons, supporting Ukraine’s environmental goals.

GoodWe is further expanding their local presence in Ukraine, demonstrating the company’s dedication to the country’s renewable energy transition. By collaborating with local partners, GoodWe aims to expand their impact on sustainable development in the region.

“At GoodWe, we believe in the transformative power of technology to create lasting change,” said Jie Zhang, Managing Director of GoodWe Europe. “Our part in the #100SolarSchools Project reinforces our commitment not only to the growing market in Ukraine, but to our values regarding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) topics. By supporting these projects with our partners, we aim to inspire others to build a more sustainable and resilient future for all.”

“Energy independence means more than just power; it’s about empowering communities,” added Alexia Coulon, President of we@voltalia Association. “We hope this story will inspire more companies to support renewable energy projects and contribute to positive, lasting change.”

A video highlighting the impact of the installation and the collaborative effort behind the project is available on YouTube: Watch here.

About we@voltalia

we@voltalia is the Voltalia Employees Association that has been created and run by Voltalians since 2018. W@V is a community where Voltalians work together to turn ideas into impactful and meaningful social projects.

Projects are created thanks to donations in time and cash from Voltalians, with additional support from Voltalia. Each of our projects are carefully designed to fulfill three criteria:

 1. Solve an issue related to water, energy, or earth (climate change).

 2. Contribute to sustainable development.

 3. Have a positive impact on the environment.

We now have 190 members within 15 countries. We welcome new members and new projects all year round! Every donation from the Voltalians is directed to the projects proposed by them and approved by the Board.

About the Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation

The Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation is dedicated to providing renewable solar energy solutions to schools, hospitals, and other critical infrastructure in Ukraine. Through initiatives like the “100 Solar Schools” and “50 Solar Hospitals” campaigns, the Foundation ensures access to education and medical services even during power outages.

By installing hybrid solar power stations and energy storage systems, the Foundation helps vital facilities maintain operations and contribute to Ukraine’s transition towards a sustainable, green future. The Foundation also promotes environmental awareness by offering educational courses on sustainability and green energy to children. Through its "Sustainable Development and Green Energy" program, nearly 1,000 students have gained valuable knowledge about energy sources and eco-friendly habits.

The Foundation received recognition at the National Charity Competition "Charity Ukraine" in the category "Charity in the Field of Ecology and Environmental Protection" in Kyiv in 2024, was awarded the "Green Initiative of the Year" prize in Brussels in 2023, and is a member of the European Solar Power Association Solar Power Europe, the Energy Initiative of the UN Global Compact, and in 2024 implemented the "Renewable Energy Sources in Ukraine" project as part of a consortium of environmental organizations.
