Gold Coast Home Goes Carbon-Positive with GoodWe Storage, Backed by Australian Government Rebate

When Roshan Ramnarain, CEO of Energy Matters, set out to electrify his family home on the Gold Coast, he had one clear goal: build a home that gives back more than it takes.

Now, thanks to GoodWe’s EHB hybrid inverter and Lynx F G2 Series battery system, Roshan has achieved just that, creating a carbon-positive home that generates more energy than it consumes.

As featured in Episode 8 of Energy Matters, Roshan’s transformation is a real-world example of how households can take full control of their energy future. With 38.4kWh of modular storage on hand, Roshan’s system powers everything from air conditioning to refrigeration, even during blackouts.

I’m producing more than I use, and I’m actually carbon positive. That’s a really powerful feeling,” Roshan said.

The future of energy is now, and a rebate backs it

Roshan’s home retrofit couldn’t be better timed. In July 2025, the federal government launched its Cheaper Home Batteries Program, offering a 30% rebate on battery systems between 5kWh and 100kWh. This translates to savings of up to $4,000 per household, which is a game-changer for anyone thinking about following in Roshan’s footsteps.

The program is designed to make battery storage more affordable and accessible, helping Australians store excess solar, cut power bills, and reduce grid reliance. For families dealing with rising energy costs and unstable supply, battery systems like GoodWe’s Lynx F G2 now offer not just resilience, but real return on investment.

During recent outages, having backup power made all the difference,” Roshan explained. “We’re covering all our loads throughout the day, including air conditioning. And then at night, we’re still using stored solar.

High-performance meets high impact

Roshan’s GoodWe setup isn’t just clever, it’s connected. With real-time system monitoring and remote control, he can manage his household energy use from anywhere.

GoodWe has made it really easy to monitor what’s coming in, what’s going out, and how we’re using energy,” he added.

This level of insight and automation is essential for anyone looking to become energy independent or, better yet, energy positive.

From aspiration to inspiration

Roshan’s carbon-positive home proves that sustainable living doesn’t mean sacrificing comfort. It means being smart about how and when energy is used, especially with solar generation now more affordable and efficient than ever.

And with incentives like the Cheaper Home Batteries Program now in play, there’s never been a better time to upgrade. Whether you want to cut costs, protect your home during outages, or do your bit for the climate, going battery-powered is more attainable than ever.

Roshan’s message to others thinking about making the switch?

Carbon-positive living isn’t a pipe dream. It’s possible now, with the right tech and the right support.
